Dhaka, Tokyo discuss issues of mutual interest

Bangladesh and Japan have discussed ways to further strengthen economic relation and cooperation between the two countries.

The two countries discussed the issues of mutual interest at the 4th Bangladesh-Japan Public Private Joint Economic Dialogue (PPED) held in the city on Thursday, said the Japanese embassy in Dhaka on Friday.

A Japanese team led by Tatsuya Terazawa, Vice-Minister for International Affairs of Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, Teruo Asada, Chairman, Japan-Bangladesh Committee for Commercial and Economic Cooperation, government officials and 74 private sector participants attended the event.

The Bangladesh team was led by Md Abul Kalam Azad, Principal Coordinator (SDG Affairs) of the Prime Minister's Office. Nizamuddin Rajesh representing the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industries (FBCCI), government officials and Bangladeshi business delegation were also present.

The launch of this dialogue was part of the Japan-Bangladesh Comprehensive Partnership, which was signed during the meeting between the Prime Ministers of Japan and Bangladesh in 2014.
