False Rewind

“You need to promise me that you won’t mention this to anyone,” Ray’s eyes twitched about, scanning the unusually clean white ceiling in the damp, old room.

Ludwig II’s fairy tale castle

During my trip to Europe, one of the destinations I had planned to visit was Neuschwanstein Castle. I thought it would be just another historical building, but it is so much more than that.

Chainsaws and Guided Missiles Galore

The Gears of War series has never been one to shy away from delivering some of the most over-the-top action that video games can offer today. Does Gears 5 continue that steamroll? Or does it feel like a beat-up monster truck running on fumes?

EMBRACING AGILE

We live in turbulent times. Our customers’ wants and needs are changing by the day, and we face the threat of disruption by our current and potential competitors. For managers, it is imperative to ensure their organisations are able to adapt to these rapidly-changing conditions, lest they risk redundancy.

A step in the right direction

Expecting anything other than incremental updates to this year's FIFA is more than far-fetched. However, FIFA 19 manages to gently nudge the series in the right direction.

BATTLEFIELD V OPEN BETA DISAPPOINTING

Anticipation is what I had when I jumped into my first match. What I left with, was disappointment. The Battlefield V Open Beta went live on September 4 for people who either had Origin Access or pre-ordered the game. For the rest of us who are more conscious about our expenditure regarding video games, it went live on September 6. The beta ended on September 11.

Wither away

My name's Julian Thomas. Strange name for a man, I always thought. Although, these are stranger circumstances under which I'm telling you this story. My hat is dripping wet and I can't even carry the weight of my drenched clothes any more. The finger yearns to make the final push. Yet still, I need to get this off my chest.

BO4 Beta Impressions: Black Ops 2 but a bit worse

When I booted up the new beta for Call of Duty: Black Ops 4, I was extremely sceptical of how it would pan out. However, I was pleasantly surprised with the experience I got out of the game. Still, there are quirks that need ironing out for this to become one of the best CoD games in years.

The one overlooked aspect of video game immersion

The player camera in video games is a criminally-overlooked feature. It can mean the difference between killing that difficult boss and dying to him because the camera glitched out and you were staring into your character's nostrils.

An opposite day for a motorcyclist

I was being a law-abiding citizen with my motorbike on the left side of the lane. It's only after the nice old man on the footpath called me the son of a certain animal did I realise my nawaabi instinct got the best of me. I was proceeding on the footpath with my bike and my rear view mirrors caught a myriad of souvenirs – the one sando genji from the vendor which I'm sure was tried on by at least three different people, a genuine, authentic ADIBAS backpack, and some bootleg Goraemon stickers.

The best Far Cry game in a while

When we think about Ubisoft titles, a few preconceived notions pop up. Some people refer to them as “tower climbing simulators.” Some people think the vast open worlds are just filled up with mundane activities. Well, suffice to say, Far Cry 5 not only puts those concerns to rest, but it also serves up some of the most organic emergent gameplay ever found in a sandbox shooter.
