Boat has sunk, no one can salvage it

Says Khaleda

BNP chief Khaleda Zia yesterday came down heavily on Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for “carrying out election campaign” across the country in the name of inaugurating government's development projects.

“You [Hasina] are seeking votes in favour of boat. Can't you understand that your boat has sunk? No one will be able to salvage it,” the BNP chief said addressing a discussion and doa mehfil organised by Jatiya Gonotantrik Party, a component in the BNP-led 20-party alliance.

Jagpa organised the programme at a city hotel to offer munajat for Shafiul Alam Prodhan who died recently.

In her speech, Khaleda blasted the PM for her “incapability to run the country properly”.

Reiterating her demand for holding the next general election under a polls-time supportive government, Khaleda called on the prime minister to “bring back democracy” in the country through a transparent and credible election.

“Hasina's topple is a must. Otherwise, we will not allow her to hold any election in the country,” the former prime minister said.

Expressing her optimism that the next general election would be held under the polls-time supportive government, Khaleda said her party would win the election and would fulfil the commitments made in the “Vision 2030”.

Claiming that people have already seen Awami League's “real face”, Khaleda called upon all pro-liberation, peace and democracy loving people of the country to unite ahead of the upcoming general election.
