Businessman shot dead in city

Criminals shot dead the owner of a recruiting agency and injured his three staff members in the capital's Banani area last night.

The dead, Siddique Munshi, 50, used to export manpower abroad.

According to police, several criminals entered Siddique's office at Block-B of Banani around 7:30pm and opened fire. The attackers escaped soon, leaving the four injured.

Locals rushed the bullet-hit victims to United Hospital, where doctors pronounced Siddique dead.

The injured staff members were undergoing treatment at the hospital.

Rafiqul Islam, assistant commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police, said they were investigating the incident.
