Four accused snatched away from police in Narail
Four arrestees were snatched from police by their cohorts in Narail's Lohagora upazila late on Sunday night after an announcement was made from a mosque's loudspeaker that robbers attacked Amada village.
Armed with local weapons, cohorts of the arrestees, accused in a riot case, attacked a police team and snatched them, leaving four cops injured, police said.
The injured are Sub-Inspector Gobinda Akarshan, assistant sub-inspectors Anisuzzaman, Kazi Babul and Babul Hasan of Lohagora Police Station. They were admitted to the upazila health complex.
Acting on a tip-off, the police team arrested Rajon Khan, 26, Nais Khan, 24, Sohel Mallick, 22, and Sahed Mallick, 19, from a room near a fish enclosure in the nearby Kamalprotap village.
When the cops were raiding the area to arrest the accused, the announcement was made from the mosque, triggering the attack on law enforcers.
Police yesterday filed a case with Lohagora Police Station in connection with the incident.
Shafiqul Islam, OC of the police station, said a drive was underway to arrest the accused.
