3 Madrasa Girls: Teacher faces music over sexual assault
A madrasa teacher has been suspended for allegedly sexually harassing three minor girls of his institution in Dinajpur’s Parbatipur upazila.
The authorities of Shialkot Alim Madrasa suspended Abdul Mannan, 55, on Sunday, said Aktaruzzaman, acting principal of the madrasa.
The girls and their parents alleged that the teacher had forced the three (aged between seven and eight) to take off their dresses in the classroom on April 30.
The girls informed their parents of the matter after returning home.
Next day, their fathers communicated the matter to the madrasa acting principal. After getting the allegation, the madrasa authorities held an emergency meeting on May 2 in this regard.
Mannan sought an apology for his action in the meeting, said the acting principal.
Talking to this correspondent, Parbatipur UNO Rehanul Haque, who is the president of the madrasa governing body, said he was not informed of the matter.
Contacted, the acting principal said he did not get enough time to inform the UNO.
Parents of the three girls said punishment of the teacher was not enough.
They alleged that family members of the girls were receiving threats from the teacher and his family members.
Talking to The Daily Star, Mannan refuted the allegation.
