Cyclone Fani to intensify further
The cyclonic storm “Fani” over southeast Bay and adjoining areas has moved north-northwestwards further over the same area.
At noon yesterday, it was centred about 1,580 km south-west of Chattogram port, 1,510 km southwest of Cox’s Bazar port, 1,535 km south of Mongla port and 1,505 km south of Payra port.
It is likely to intensify further and move in a northwesterly direction, according to a special weather bulletin of the Met Office.
Maximum sustained wind speed within 54 kms of the cyclone centre was about 62 kph, which was rising to 88 kph in gusts/squalls. The sea will remain very rough near the cyclone centre.
The maritime ports of Chattogram, Cox’s Bazar, Mongla and Payra have been advised to keep hoisted distant warning signal number 2.
All fishing boats and trawlers over the North Bay and deep sea have been advised to proceed with caution till further notice.
