Cyclone Fani likely to intensify
Maritime ports of Chattogram, Cox’s Bazar, Mongla and Payra have been advised to keep hoisted distant warning signal-2 as the cyclonic storm “Fani” over the southeast Bay of Bengal and adjoining areas is likely to intensify further and move in the northwesterly direction.
All fishing boats and trawlers over the north Bay and deep sea have been advised to proceed with caution until further notice, said a bulletin of the Met office.
The sea will remain very rough near the cyclone centre while the maximum sustained wind speed within 54kms of the cyclone centre is about 62kph rising to 88kph in gusts or squalls.
The bulletin said Fani was centred at noon yesterday about 1,695km south of Chattogram port, 1,620km south of Cox’s Bazar port, 1,675km south of Mongla port and 1,635km south of Payra Port.
