Schoolgirl raped in Pabna

A schoolgirl has allegedly been raped in a village of Pabna's Ishwardi upazila.

The girl, a 15-year-old student of class seven, was taken to Pabna General Hospital for medical examination yesterday.

Police have arrested the key accused, Tushar Pramanik, 20, of the same village, over the incident. He was sent to jail yesterday.

However, his two accomplices -- Md Shakil and Md Rony of the same village -- managed to escape, said police.

Officer-in-Charge of Ishwardi Police Station Md Bahauddin Faruki said Tushar along with the two others entered the house of the victim on Sunday and forcibly took her to a nearby garden. The arrestee raped the girl there with the help of the other two accused, added the OC, citing the case statement.

The girl's uncle filed the case against the three the same day, the OC said.

“We have arrested the key accused Tushar and are looking for his accomplices,” the OC added.

The girl's uncle said Tushar used to harass his niece on her way to school every day. Her family had recently complained to Tushar's parents. That is why he raped the girl, he alleged.
