Rab unearths arms factory in Cox's Bazar

Rab unearthed an arms factory during a raid at a hill in Kalarmar Chhara of Moheshkhali and recovered a huge stock of arms yesterday.

Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) conducted the raid from 11:00pm Saturday to 5:00am yesterday.

Rab seized 20 locally made guns, a large number of bullets, and arms making equipment from the factory. Two arms making technicians identified as Abdul Hakim, 38, and Shahidullah, 31, were also arrested, Rab-7 Cox's Bazar Company Commander Maj Mehedi Hasan said.

The two arrestees are being interrogated.

Maj Mehedi said a Rab team raided the hill after receiving information that there were several arms factories in the area of the island upazila.

The factory was found on a hill between Hoanok and Kalarmar Chhara unions.
