Rohingya Repatriation: President seeks support from new Myanmar envoy
President Abdul Hamid yesterday sought cooperation from the newly appointed Myanmar envoy to Dhaka for starting the repatriation of the displaced Rohingyas soon.
Ambassador U Lwin Oo presented his credential to the president at the Bangabhaban in the afternoon.
During a meeting with him, the president sought active initiative as well as cooperation from the diplomat so that repatriation of Rohingyas start soon, said president's Press Secretary Joynal Abedin.
Hamid also expressed the hope that the repatriation process would end during his (envoy's) tenure in Dhaka.
The president told the Myanmar envoy that Bangladesh always put emphasis on the friendly relations with all neighbouring countries.
U Lwin Oo sought cooperation from the president in performing his duties in Dhaka.
Earlier, newly appointed French Ambassador to Bangladesh Marie-Annick Bourdin also presented his credential to the president.
