Schoolboy stabbed to death

Unidentified criminals stabbed a schoolboy to death in Maijdipur area of Noakhali's Senbagh upazila on Thursday night.

The dead, Abu Shakher Shaheen, 15, a class nine student of Kabilpur High School, was a son of Jubo League leader Khorshed Alam.

Khorshed, president of ward-3 unit of Jubo League, said Shaheen received a phone call when they were returning home after offering Esha prayers at a mosque. Shaheen then told him that he would come back home later.

As Shaheen was late in returning home, they called him but his phone was switched off. They then started searching for him, but did not find him at night.

Yesterday morning, locals found the body of Shaheen in a paddy field and informed them, Khorshed added.

Police recovered the body and sent it to Noakhali General Hospital morgue for an autopsy.

The motive behind the killing could not be known immediately, said Harunur Rashid, officer-in-charge of Senbagh Police Station.
