Tahir Khan takes oath as Luton mayor
Luton Borough Council has appointed its first mayor of Bangladesh origin at a special meeting held at Luton Town Hall on Wednesday.
Tahir Khan will serve as the new mayor of Luton during 2016-17.
A man from Jagannathpur in Sylhet, Khan was elected mayor of the Borough of Luton at the annual meeting of the council on May 17.
Khan was elected a councillor in 2007 and has served on a number of important committees. He successfully served as the lead executive member for children services for five years.
Khan is also on the Board of Directors at London Luton Airport Limited and has served as a school governor for over 15 years.
