Wrong Side Driving: Video of two journo leaders goes viral
A video clip of two senior journalist leaders having an altercation with a policeman over driving on the wrong way on Bailey Road has gone viral.
A witness recorded the video and uploaded it on Facebook on January 19 stirring quite a lot of reaction.
The exact time of the incident could not be known.
In the video clip, it was seen that an on-duty police officer stopped the car on Bailey Road, which is a one-way street, around the evening.
One of the journalists in the car was the president of a Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists (BFUJ)-faction and the other one is its general secretary.
On being stopped, one of the journalists claimed that he went against traffic because two police officers had allowed him to do so.
The police official was arguing that the journalist had broken the law.
At one point, the police official was seen calling apparently his higher authorities over phone and was heard saying that the journalist was not showing any documents for the car and was behaving badly towards police.
The senior journalist then said he would not show any documents as police misbehaved with him.
“Sue me and take me to the police station,” the senior journalist said.
The police official said he did not want to arrest him but would sue him.
The senior journalist then told him that he teaches at the Police Staff College, to which the police official said, “Then you should have the knowledge about the law.”
During the row, the other journalist leader was also seen arguing with the police.
The senior journalist discovered that a person was filming and tried to grab the phone. He became angry and went after him.
After the video went viral, many social media users criticised the journalists for breaking traffic rules and applauded the police official for not allowing them to take the wrong side.
