Bagerhat police constable held for killing wife
A police constable has been arrested in Sharankhola upazila of Bagerhat on charges of killing his wife.
The arrestee Saddam Hussein also cut the body into pieces in an attempt to hide it following the murder on Wednesday, October 7, reports our local correspondent quoting Saidur Rahman, officer-in-charge (OC) of Sharankhola Police station.
The deceased, identified as Josna, was the second wife of Saddam Hussein.
Saddam was working at Tafalbari Police Camp in Sharankhola upazila. He lived in a rented house next to the camp area with Josna.
He strangled his wife to death on the night of Wednesday, October 7, said the OC adding that Saddam then chopped the body into pieces, wrapped those in polythene and hid them in an abandoned room.
Based on a tip-off, police recovered the wrapped-up body parts from the room around 11pm yesterday, and arrested Saddam.
"He has been taken into police custody. The body parts were sent for autopsy. Further legal actions are being taken in this matter," the OC added.
