Bangladesh-India A match drawn

The two-day practice match between Bangladesh and India A was drawn after the end of play today.

After India A declared their innings at 461 for 8, Bangladesh batted for 15 overs and reached 73 for two. Soumya Sarkar was sent back for 25 by Kuldeep Yadav. The Indian bowler also picked up Mominul Haque for a golden duck. Tamim Iqbal was batting on 42 from 54 balls at the close of play.

Earlier, India A declared their first innings at 461 for 8 after 90 overs.

Centuries from Priyant Panchal, Shreyas Iyer and Vijar Shankar allowed India A to pile up their massive total. Both Panchal and Iyer retired to the pavilion after scoring 103 and 100 respectively. Shankar was unbeaten on 103 from 81 balls, and his blistering knock contained 14 fours and three sixes.

Iyer also took the attack to the Bangladesh bowlers as he smashed 100 from 92 balls. He struck 12 fours and four sixes during his stay at the crease.

For the tourists, Subashis Roy and Taijul Islam took three wickets each. Subashis captured 3-57 in 16 overs while Taijul picked up 3-141 in 28 overs.

India A had the upper hand going into the lunch break, having gone past Bangladesh’s total on Day 2.

Shreyas Iyer slammed a superb ton and retired out immediately for 100 off just 92 balls. He smashed 11 fours and 4 sixes in his belligerent innings.

He brought up his fifty off 56 deliveries; the next 50 runs came in just 36 deliveries. Priyank Panchal carried on his good run from the domestic circuit and also scored a century.

Ishank Jaggi has come out to bat after Shreyas headed back to the pavilion. Panchal and Shreyas added 159 for the second wicket, which put India A in the driver’s seat.

Both Panchal and Iyer reached their fifties early on the second day.

Subashis Roy took the only wicket for his side when he had Abhinav Mukund dimissed for 16 yesterday. At the end of play of Day-1, India were 91 for the loss of one wicket.

Bangladesh won the toss and decided to bat in their lone two-day practice game against India A. It was a good toss to win because it allowed Mushfiqur Rahim’s men to have some much-needed batting practice ahead of their one-off Test against India that starts at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium on February 9.
