Sri Lanka champions
Sri Lanka clinched the title of the Asian Cricket Council Emerging Teams Cup beating Pakistan by five wickets in a lopsided final at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chittagong today.
Riding on a quickfire 45 from opener Sadeera Samarawickrama, the Lankans cruised to the target of 134 with five wickets in hand and 26.1 overs to spare. Despite losing five wickets with 36 runs remaining, the islanders cruised to the target, thanks to unbeaten 22 from Wanidu Hasaranga and unbeaten 20 from Kithurawan Vithanage.
Earlier, Pakistan had chosen to bat first on winning the toss, but their innings hardly ever got going and they were bowled out for 133 in 42.1 overs.
Skipper Mohammad Rizwan and all-rounder Usama Mir scored 26 each -- the highest of the innings. Sri Lanka spinner Shehan Jayasuriya took three wickets for 22 runs while Chamika Karunaratne and de Silva shared two wickets each.
