BSF returns body of Bangladeshi 15 days after shooting him in Kushtia border
Indian Border Security Forces (BSF) yesterday returned the body of a Bangladeshi citizen who was shot dead by them on Kushtia border 15 days back.
Bangladesh Border Guard (BGB) received the body during a flag meeting in No-man's land area adjacent to the border pillar no 75/10 (S) along Mahishkundi border in Daulatpur upazila of the district yesterday afternoon, reports our Kushtia correspondent.
The deceased is Abul Kashem (35) of Challishpara border area in Daulatpur's Ramkrishnapur union.
Subedar Delwar Hossain, commander of Mahishkundi Company of 47th BGB Battalion, told The Daily Star that Abul Kashem was killed around 9:30pm on August 14 on the Indian territory, opposite to Ramkrishnapur Union.
"Kashem had entered India illegally when the BSF opened fire on him in the bordering area under Majdiar of Jalangi police station of India," the BGB officer said quoting Balram Singh, commander of Jalangi BSF camp in West Bengal's Murshidabad district who led the flag meeting on behalf of BSF.
Officer-In-charge (OC) of Daulatpur Police Station Nishikanta Roy was present at the flag meeting.
Abul Kashem's brother Abul Hossain Mithu said his brother was a cattle trader. On the day of the incident, he went to the border and was killed by the BSF.
