Blogger Rajib killing charges pressed
Detective Police pressed charges against eight people including Ansarullah Bangla Team chief Mufti Jasimuddin Rahmani in connection with the killing of blogger Ahmed Rajib Haider in February last year.
The other accused are – Md Faisal Bin Nayem alias Dip, Maksudul Hasan alias Anik, Md Ehsan Reza alias Rumman, Nayem Sikdar alias Iraj, Nafis Imtiaz, Sabmam Yasir Mahmud, and Redwanul Azad.
Of the accused Rahmani and six others were arrested earlier and are now in custody while Redwan is on the run.
During the investigation, Rahmani and six others had given confessional statements before magistrate on different dates.
DB inspector Nidaron Chandra Barman and also the investigating officer in the case submitted the charge sheet before the metropolitan court of Dhaka this afternoon.
The investigating officer appealed to the court to issue an arrest warrant against the fugitive Redwan.
Rajib, also an activist of the Shahbagh movement, was hacked to death in the capital’s Pallabi on February 15.
Police arrested Rahmani and 30 other alleged militants when the group was holding a “secret meeting” at a house in South Khajurtala of Barguna town on August 11.
On March 1, detectives arrested five students of North South University in connection with the murder case.
