Buet gets new VC, DU new Pro VC

Prof Satya Prasad Majumder has been appointed as the Vice-Chancellor of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (Buet) while Prof ASM Maksud Kamal has been appointed as the Pro Vice-Chancellor (education) of Dhaka University, replacing Prof Nasreen Ahmad.

Two separate gazette notifications were issued by the education ministry today in these regards.

President Md Abdul Hamid, also the chancellor of the universities, made the appointments today as per the ordinances of the respective universities, the notifications said.

Prof Satya Prasad will serve the post for four years. He joined Buet in 1981 and served in various positions.

Meanwhile, Prof AKM Maksud Kamal, of Disaster Science and Management department, has been appointed as the Pro-Vice Chancellor (education) of Dhaka University.

He will remain in the post for four years.

Prof Kamal, elected dean of Earth and Environmental Sciences Faculty in 2012, was elected president of Dhaka University Teachers Association four consecutive times.
