Ecnec approves 2 metro rail projects involving Tk 93,800cr

The Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (Ecnec) today approved two more metro rail projects worth Tk 93,800 crore.

A total of 10 projects including Dhaka Mass Rapid Development Project (Line-1) and Dhaka Mass Rapid Transit Development Project (Line-5) were approved during a meeting at the NEC conference hall at Sher-e-Bangla Nagar in Dhaka, said Planning Minister MA Mannan while talking to the journalists.

The ten projects will cost Tk 100025.23 crore of which 30466.02 crore will be funded by the government and Tk 69043.37 crore are foreign loan, the minister said.

The rest Tk 515.84 crore will be spent from the personal fund of Ecnec, said MA Mannan.

The prime minister chaired the meeting which was also attended, among others, by Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader, Information Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud, Local Government and Rural Development (LGRD) Minister Md Tajul Islam and Education Minister Dr Dipu Moni.
