Bangladesh receives Bangabandhu-1 Satellite replica
The government received the replica of the Bangabandhu-1, country’s first communication satellite, in the ITU Telecom World at Bangkok yesterday.
State Minister for Telecommunication Tarana Halim today shared a photo of the replica on her official Facebook page with a status: “The Bangabandhu Satellite arrived from France at Bangladesh Pavilion in ITU Telecom world 2016, Bangkok just yesterday.”
Bangladesh, for the first time, is participating at the ITU Telecom World 2016 which was inaugurated today.
The event will continue till November 17 where Bangladesh will showcase Bangabandhu-1 Satellite’s prospect to the world, said a senior official of the Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission.
The Bangabandhu-1 is scheduled to be launched in December 2017 with a cost of Tk 2,967 crore.
Thales Alenia Space, a French aerospace manufacturer, is manufacturing the satellite.
In the grand pavilion, the country’s top mobile phone operators Grameenphone, Banglalink, Robi, Teletalk and two other Nationwide Telecommunication Transmission Network (NTTN) operators are also taking part with the regulator and the government.
