China wants to invest in energy, fuel, agro-processing: Munshi
China has showed interest to invest in Bangladesh's energy, fuel and agro-processing sectors, Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi said.
China is one of the biggest exporters of goods for Bangladesh and Chinese businesses want to invest more in Bangladesh, he said today.
"We have said everything is open for China. We invited them to come to Bangladesh and have a first-hand experience of the numerous items we have, investment on which could be beneficial for them."
The minister spoke while talking to the journalists at the ongoing Bangladesh Business Summit 2023.
The Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry has organised the three-day event in partnership with foreign and commerce ministries and the Bangladesh Investment Development Authority at Bangabandhu International Conference Centre in the capital.
However, Munshi did not give any idea on how much and where China will invest.
The minister told the Chinese businesses that Bangladesh has been importing goods from China for the last 40 years and it is China's time to invest here in Bangladesh now.
Not only Chinese, Saudi businesses also showed their interest to invest in Bangladesh's energy and fuel and help the country build skilled manpower, Munshi added.
