BB to pursue “accommodative policy stance” in January-June

Govt borrowing from BB may fuel inflation

Bangladesh Bank today said it would pursue a cautiously accommodative policy stance in the second half of the current fiscal year to contain inflationary and exchange rate pressures.

The stance will also aim at supporting desired economic growth, ensuring the necessary flow of funds to the economy's productive and employment generating activities, according to the new monetary policy of the central bank.

With this, the BB has returned to the biannual monetary policy stance after a gap of three years.

In 2019-2020, the central bank moved away from a twice-a-year policy statement to an annual statement that was practised for the previous two decades.
