E-cigarette to cost more, much more

Popular choice among youths as an alternative to sticks, e-cigarettes will be costing much higher than it is now, according to the proposed budget for 2017-18.

“Newly invented health-hazardous item is e-cigarette” which is very popular among the young smokers from comparatively wealthy family, Muhith said.

“I am proposing to introduce two separate HS Codes for these two items and impose 25 percent customs duty for both the items,” Muhith proposed in the budget.

Addtionally, a 100 percent supplementary duty will be slapped on the product and its refills.

Effectively, the e-cigarettes will be costing more than double the current amount.
