Technical glitch in Bangladesh Bank’s server resolved
Interbank transactions through Bangladesh Bank's Real Time Gross Settlement (RTGS) system resumed today after the central bank resolved the technical glitch in the system, said an official.
"The problem was fixed last night and transaction has been begun since morning," said Md Sarwar Hossain, assistant spokesperson of the BB.
A private bank official also confirmed that they could transfer funds interbank using the RTGS.
Banks yesterday faced trouble in settling transactions with other banks owing to a technical glitch in the RTGS. Since instant transactions of funds among banks were stalled, it affected payments, including bills and disbursements of salaries of many firms.
The BB yesterday afternoon postponed RTGS operation citing unavoidable circumstances.
However, as transactions through cheques and Bangladesh Electronic Fund Transfer Network (BEFTN) system were on, banks could transfer a portion of funds among themselves.
Data by the BB showed that interbank transactions through RTGS accounted for 69 percent of total transaction of roughly Tk 860,000 crore in May this year. The fund transactions through cheque clearance and BEFTN constituted the rest.
