Govt to buy oil, lentil for sale at subsidised rates
The government will procure 40 lakh litres of rice bran oil and 6,000 tonnes of lentil for sale among low-income people at subsidised prices through state-run Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB).
The cabinet committee on public purchase, in a virtual meeting with Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal in the chair, approved proposals in this regard yesterday, said Sayeed Mahbub Khan, additional secretary to the cabinet division.
The oil will be bought from Majumdar Bran Oil Mills Ltd for Tk 64.6 crore while the lentils from Nabil Nabal Naba Foods Ltd for Tk 57.05 crore, he told journalists after the meeting.
The purchase committee also approved importing 30,000 tonnes of granular urea fertiliser in bulk from state-run Muntajat of Qatar at a cost of Tk 131.12 crore.
Another 30,000 tonnes of bagged granular urea fertiliser will be bought from Karnaphuli Fertilizer Company Limited at a cost of Tk 129.18 crore.
