Workers from two companies in the Chattogram Export Processing Zone staged separate protests today demanding salaries and Eid bonuses.

Around 100 workers from Thianis Apparels Limited gathered outside the factory and blocked the main gate around 2:00pm, said Mohammed Solaiman, superintendent of police of Chattogram Industrial Police.

The workers were protesting as they were yet to receive their salaries and Eid bonuses, he said.

Meanwhile, around 150 workers from MS Garments Ltd have been demonstrating in front of the Bangladesh Export Processing Zones Authority office inside CEPZ for the past three days demanding Eid bonuses.

Today's protest took place from 1:00pm, police said.

SP Solaiman said, "We have spoken with both the factory owners and workers. The owners have assured us that the salaries and Eid bonuses will be paid by today."

As of 6:00pm, workers of both factories were still protesting, he said.
