Dhaka stocks rise sharply at open
Most shares on the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) rose today, helping the key index add more than 50 points in the first one hour of trading.
The DSEX Index, the benchmark index of the premier bourse of Bangladesh, stood at 6,402 at 11:02. It marginally fell later.
At 11:40, the key index was 6,392.78, up 45.89 points or 0.72 per cent.
The DSES Index, which represents Shariah-based companies listed on the bourse, was up 0.59 per cent at 1,393, while the DS30 Index, which consists of the blue-chip companies, gained 0.99 per cent to 2,306.
Of the securities, 231 advanced, 84 declined and 66 did not see any price movement.
Turnover rose to Tk 464 crore.
