Fujifilm sets date for death of monochrome camera film
Fujifilm Corp. announced on its website on Friday that it will end sales of black-and-white film and photographic printing paper.
Production has already ended. The company is likely to stop shipping black-and-white film by October this year, and black-and-white paper by March 2020.
Photographic film and printing paper were once at the core of Fujifilm's business. The company started producing and selling black-and-white paper in 1934 and film in 1936.
However, the advent of color film and the spread of digital cameras saw demand for black-and-white film decrease year by year -- making it unfeasible for Fujifilm to continue supplying it.
