Green RMGs to get tax benefits
Ready-made garment factories with internationally-recognised green standards will enjoy tax benefit, Finance Minister AMA Muhith proposed in the budget today.
The minister made the proposal as part of government’s plan to integrate the issue of environment in its tax policy according to the proposed budget of fiscal 2017-18.
“I propose to reduce the tax rate of a readymade garments company to 14 percent if the factory of such company has an internationally recognised green building certification,” Muhith said.
“In order to keep the earth habitable for our next generation, we need to ensure both the sustainable development and the conservation of our environment,” Muhith said.
This year’s budget, the biggest till date, has amounted to Tk 4,00,226 crore.
