Another Islami Bank top official resigns
A deputy managing director of Islami Bank Bangladesh Ltd (IBBL) resigned from his post on April 3.
Md Siddiqur Rahman, the DMD of the bank, submitted his resignation just a week after the similar departure of another additional managing director, Md Omar Faruk Khan.
Sources in IBBL said that both of them resigned after the board of directors asked them verbally to do so.
But it could not be known immediately why the board asked them to resign from their jobs.
Meanwhile, Md Akiz Uddin has joined IBBL as deputy managing director.
He was the personal secretary of S Alam Group Chairman Mohammed Saiful Alam, who is the chairman of First Security Islami Bank.
The Daily Star contacted Mohammed Monirul Moula, managing director of Islami Bank Bangladesh, to know the reasons for their resignations, but he could not comment on the issue, as Moula's son says over phone that the banker is suffering from illness and cannot talk now.
The shariah-based IBBL has been facing a liquidity crisis for the last couple of months after being hit with financial scams.
