Budget should have allocated more for health: Unnayan Shamannay
Money is not a problem for the implementation of the proposed budget, but vaccination has become the main concern now to bring back the business confidence, Unnayan Shamannay said today.
The government should have showed more courage to increase the allocation for the health sector given the ongoing Covid-19 situation, said Atiur Rahman, chairman of the non-governmental research organisation.
For the upcoming fiscal year, some Tk 33,000 crore has been allocated, which is 5.4 per cent of the overall budget volume.
But the government should have allocated at least 7 per cent of the proposed budget to tackle the Covid-19, he said.
Rahman made the remarks at a virtual press briefing on the proposed national budget for 2021-22 fiscal year.
