Dhaka stocks plunge to lowest of the month
Stocks plunged below the 5,000 point-mark today thanks to massive sell-off by both jittery retail and foreign investors.
The DSEX, the premier index of Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), plunged by 20.68 points, or 0.41 percent, to close at 4,986.37, which is the lowest in one and half months.
A dip in confidence has now turned into a full-on panic in the last two weeks, the DSEX had wiped out 237.35 points.
Of the traded issues, 132 advanced, 166 declined and 53 remained unchanged.
Monno Ceramic Industries dominated the turnover chart followed by Stylecraft, Renata, Monno Jute Stafflers and United Power Generation.
Sea Pearl Beach Resort and Spa was the day’s best performer with its 9.82 percent gain, while Reliance One was the worst loser, shedding 9.28 percent.
Today, GP lost 2.54 percent through which it become top negative contributor to the index. The telecom company snatched 11.35 points alone from the DSEX.
