Food inflation surges to 12.54% in August 

Food inflation in Bangladesh surged to 12.54 percent in August, official figures showed today.

It was 9.76 percent in the previous month.

The overall inflation increased by 23 basis points to 9.92 percent in August, according to the Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics (BBS).

Average inflation stood at 9.69 percent in July.

Non-food inflation, however, eased to 7.95 percent last month from 9.47 percent in July.
