Gemini Sea Food’s profit jumps 205-fold

Gemini Sea Food Ltd's profit jumped 20,400 per cent year-on-year to Tk 5 crore in the January-March quarter of the current financial year.

The shrimp exporter made a Tk 2.44 lakh profit in the same quarter of 2021-22.

The company reported earnings per share of Tk 8.20 for the January-March quarter of 2022-23 against Tk 0.04 in the identical quarter a year earlier, according to the unaudited financial statements.

The massive leap in profit in the first quarter of FY23 raised the company's overall profit to Tk 9.34 crore in the July-March period of the financial year. It was Tk 3.15 crore in the same period in FY23.

So, the EPS was Tk 15.30 in the nine-month period. It was Tk 5.16 in July-March of FY22.

The net operating cash flow per share returned to the positive territory of Tk 2.86 in the first nine months of FY23 from a negative Tk 2.35 in the same period in the previous financial year.

The net asset value per share was Tk 25.38 on March 31 this year and Tk 13.10 on June 30 last year.

The EPS and the NOCFPS increased for securing a higher gross profit, while the NAVPS went up on the back of higher profits, said the company in a filing on the Dhaka Stock Exchange.

Shares of the company slipped 2.69 per cent to Tk 769.10 on the premier bourse of the country yesterday.
