Livestock ministry to sell milk, egg, meat in Dhaka’s 20 places
The fisheries and livestock ministry will sell milk, egg and meat at affordable rates at 20 places inside the capital from the first day of Ramadan until the 28th day of the holy month.
The ministry will sell beef at Tk 640 a kg, mutton at Tk 940 a kg, dressed broiler at Tk 340 a kg, milk at Tk 80 a litre and egg at Tk 10 per piece.
Fisheries and Livestock Minister SM Rezaul Karim is scheduled to start the initiative on the premises of the livestock department in Dhaka on March 23.
The food items will be sold as part of efforts to keep prices of meat, milk and egg stable and help people meet their daily requirement of protein and nutrition, the ministry said in a statement today.
Businesses, producers and stakeholders in the supply chain will cooperate with the ministry to run the mobile sales centres across the city under the livestock department, according to the statement.
The places where the items will be sold are: Abdul Gani Road, Khamarbari, Japan Garden City in Mohammadpur, Mirpur's 60-feet road, Maternal and Child Health Training Institute in Azimpur, Noyabazar in Old Dhaka, Arambagh, Notun Bazar, Kalshi in Mirpur, Khilgaon Railgate, Lucas Mor in Nakhalpara, Kitchen Market in Segunbagicha, Bosila in Mohammadpur, Diyabari in Uttara, Jatrabari, Gabtoli, Hazaribagh, Korail Slum in Banani, Kamrangirchar and Rampura.
