‘Market has no food scarcity, rather problem is in supply chain’
There is no shortage of any product in the market, rather the problem lies in the supply chain, Industries Minister Nurul Majid Mahmud Humayun said today.
The shelves of the markets are full of different products, which means that there is no problem with the production also, he said.
Humayun made the comments when industries ministry teamed up with the ICT department to ensure food safety and smooth supply of agricultural goods along with strengthening the supply chain.
The minister spoke as the chief guest at a programme where Industries Secretary Zakia Sultana signed a deal with ICT Secretary Md Shamsul Arefin at the conference room of the industries ministry in Dhaka today.
The industries ministry will now centrally monitor to ensure demand, stock, supply and quality of different goods, including fertiliser, the minister said.
The agreement will fuel economic growth and play a vital role in increasing national production, said Kamal Ahmed Mojumder, state minister for industries.
Under the deal, the ICT department will help in implementation of the smart fertiliser management system, which will create an easier way for transportation, preservation and supply of all kinds of fertiliser, he said.
Moreover, it will also help in the production and marketing of sugar, salt and other products of different agencies and organisations under the industries ministry through the smart management system with the help of vehicle tracking system and enterprise resource planning, Mojumder said.
ICT State Minister Zunaid Ahmed Palak also spoke.
