No tax on Dec 21 concert for martyrs of Jul-Aug uprising: NBR
No value-added tax or supplementary duty will be imposed on the 'Echoes of Revolution' concert, which is being organised to support the families of those martyred or injured in the July-August uprising in Bangladesh that overthrew the Awami League government.
The concert to be organised by a platform named Spirits of July will take place on December 21 at the Army Stadium in the capital where renowned South Asian musician Rahat Fateh Ali Khan is set to perform.
The National Board of Revenue shared the information through a gazette today, saying it gave the exemption considering the non-profit nature of the festival.
Earnings from ticket sales will support the families of those martyred or injured in the July-August revolution, it said.
However, the NBR said the organizing authorities will have to pay taxes if any irregularities are found during the concert.
