Premier Bank Chairman HBM Iqbal, family members face bank account freeze
Banks have been asked to freeze all personal and solely-owned companies' accounts of HBM Iqbal, chairman of Premier Bank, and his family members.
A former member of parliament, Iqbal is also the chairman of Premier Group of Companies Ltd.
Order was also given to freeze the accounts of Iqbal's wife Anjuman Ara Shilpi, his sons Moin Uddin Iqbal and Ikram Iqbal and daughter Nowrin Iqbal.
The Bangladesh Financial Intelligence Unit (BFIU) through a letter last week ordered keeping the accounts frozen for 30 days in the first phase.
It also sought an update of the accounts within four working days.
