Roadmap is there to implement ILO conventions: commerce adviser

Bangladesh respects the conventions of the International Labour Organisation and has a clear roadmap to implement the conventions it has ratified, Commerce Adviser Sk Bashir Uddin said today.

He made the comment at a meeting when Michael Miller, ambassador and head of delegation of the European Union (EU), called on the adviser at his secretariat office in Dhaka.

They discussed ILO conventions, bilateral trade and the EU's cooperation to Bangladesh for the repatriation of the laundered money, the commerce ministry said in a statement.

Bashir Uddin also said the interim government has been trying to bring down commodity prices and it has already reduced the import duty of some goods.

According to the statement, the EU ambassador assured the adviser of cooperation with Bangladesh by providing logistics and human resources to help repatriate laundered money.
