Source more from Bangladesh, BGMEA urges Iraqi businesses
Local garment makers today urged the Iraqi businesses to source more garment items from Bangladesh and invest in different sectors of the south Asian country.
Faruque Hassan, president of the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA), made the call in a meeting in Iraq with Abdulrazak Al-Zuheere, president of the Federation of Iraqi Chambers of Commerce.
The BGMEA president on the last day of his four-day trip to Iraq also discussed potential collaboration to foster mutually beneficial partnerships between Iraq and Bangladesh.
Hassan also urged the Iraqi Chambers of Commerce to encourage businesses of the middle eastern country to invest in Bangladesh and take benefit of the favourable investment climate present in the south Asian nation.
The BGMEA president also presented an overview of the readymade garment industry of Bangladesh, its strong position in the global market and the prospect of garment exports to the Iraqi market.
In efforts to explore trade and investment opportunities in new markets, a six-member delegation of the BGMEA led by Hassan is now visiting Iraq, the association said in a statement.
The BGMEA delegation also had meetings with Iraqi ministers, trade bodies, businessmen and other stakeholders.
