Some investors staged a procession in front of the Bangladesh Bank headquarters in the capital, demanding the resignation of the chairman of the Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC) as major indices of the stock market continue to fall.

They staged the procession under the banner of the Bangladesh Capital Market Investors Association.

Investors are losing money as the DSEX, the benchmark index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange, has plunged by around 900 points since the new BSEC chairman took charge, said SM Iqbal Hossain, president of the association.

No new initial public offering has been introduced in the market in the last eight months, he added.

After the procession, they held a rally in the capital.
