Stocks extend losing streak for fifth consecutive session

Stocks on the Dhaka Stock Exchange fell in early trading today, extending losses for the fifth straight session amid persistent investor caution.

The DSEX, the benchmark index of the premier bourse, shed 3.93 points, or 0.07 percent, to 5,093.36 as of 10:56am.

The Shariah-compliant DSES index slipped 0.35 percent to 1,139.65, while the DS30, comprising blue-chip stocks, dropped 0.14 percent to 1,872.65.

Turnover, a key indicator of market activity, stood at Tk 97.51 crore during the period.

Of the 395 issues traded, 134 advanced, 162 declined, and 77 remained unchanged.

Sena Kalyan Insurance was the day's top gainer, rising 9 percent, while Meghna Pet Industries suffered the highest loss, falling by the same margin.
