Stocks fall for fifth day 

Indices of the Dhaka Stock Exchange dropped today, extending their losing run for the fifth consecutive day. 

The DSEX, the benchmark index of the premier bourse, lost 41.25 points, or 0.87 percent, to close at 4,678.13.

The Shariah-compliant DSES index declined by 0.85 percent to 1,024.43, while the DS30, which represents blue-chip stocks, dropped 1.01 percent to 1,724.17.

Turnover, a key indicator of market activity, declined 3 percent to Tk 272.74 crore compared to the previous session. 

Of the issues traded, 83 advanced, 237 declined, and 72 remained unchanged. 

Union Bank posted the highest gain, rising 10 percent, while Bank Asia posted the biggest loss, dropping 15 percent.
