Stocks on the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) edged up in early trading today, snapping a six-day losing streak.

The DSEX, the benchmark index of the premier bourse, gained 4.17 points, or 0.08 percent, to reach 5,049.02 as of 10:56 am.

The Shariah-based DSES index advanced 0.09 percent to 1,127.61, while the DS30, which represents blue-chip stocks, rose 0.16 percent to 1,866.45.

Turnover, a key indicator of market activity, stood at Tk 79.41 crore during the session.

Of the 395 issues traded, 167 advanced, 124 declined, and 82 remained unchanged.

Alif Industries emerged as the day's top gainer with a 8 percent rise, whereas shares of Beach Hatchery dropped 7 percent, the highest fall.
