Travel restriction on bankers relaxed
Bangladesh Bank today relaxed the travel restrictions on employees of banks, which was imposed on May of 2022 as part of efforts to stop foreign currency reserves from sliding.
Bankers will now be able to go abroad for official and personal reasons without taking permission from the central bank, Bangladesh Bank said in a notice issued today.
However, if a bank's managing director wants to go abroad, he/she has to take prior approval from the central bank.
Officials and employees of banks will not be allowed to travel abroad to participate in training, seminars, workshops or study tours funded by the bank, according to the notice.
It said they can travel abroad for personal purposes for special needs, performing the Holy Hajj and receiving emergency medical treatment subject to the recommendation of a specialist physician with the approval of the appropriate authorities.
