Uber launches driver safety features
Ride-hailing company Uber has launched a comprehensive set of app-based safety features for drivers in Bangladesh.
The features bundled as "Driver Safety Toolkit" contain GPS tracking facility for every Uber trip and an emergency button, reads a press release by the company today.
" Over the past 2 years, Uber has focused its efforts in developing innovative solutions that increase transparency, accountability, and safety of all the Uber users," the press release said quoting Zulquar Quazi Islam, lead, Uber Bangladesh.
"The rollout of this toolkit is the next step in ensuring we’re helping all the driver partners stay connected and safe," Islam said.
The "Driver Safety Toolkit" includes:
Share Trip: Driver partners can now share their trip details with their loved ones straight from the app, letting their family and friends follow them along as they drive.
The new safety controls allow delivery partners to more easily Share Trip and customise their trip sharing preferences.
Emergency button: The emergency assistance button offers driver partners an option to connect with law enforcement during an unwanted emergency situation.
Speed Limit: This feature alerts driver partners when they exceed the speed so that they can drive at safe speeds for their personal safety, the comfort of their riders, as well as others on the road.
Uber said these features will be a part of a larger Safety Toolkit in the app, giving driver partners access to all possible safety measures under the shield icon.
