US-Bangladesh Business Council to be launched today
The US-Bangladesh Business Council will be launched today virtually to boost the bilateral trade and investment between the two countries.
It is an exclusive platform of the US Chamber of Commerce, which will enhance the US-Bangladesh trade, commercial and innovation corridor through business-focused policy advocacy, according to the US Chamber.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is likely to inaugurate the council at around 7pm (Bangladesh time), it said.
Besides, business leaders and government high officials from both countries are likely to address the programme, the US Chamber said.
"With a rapidly growing middle-class, skilled workforce and resilient economy, Bangladesh presents an unparalleled opportunity for investment and business partnerships," the chamber also said in a statement today.
With the launch of the US-Bangladesh Business Council, the chamber is demonstrating its continued commitment to fostering bilateral business ties and creating an expanded platform for business advocacy, it added.
Currently, the US is the largest export destination for Bangladesh with exporting goods worth more than $6 billion a year. Of the total export from Bangladesh, more than 90 per cent is garment items.
