New committee of PEN Bangladesh announced

PEN Bangladesh has formed a new executive committee.

The new executive committee of PEN Bangladesh for the 2025-2028 term is led by Ambassador Mosud Mannan as president, with Prof Nashid Kamal as vice president and Farida Moni Shahidullah as general secretary, said a press release.

The other members of the committee are: Ferdousi Mahmood (treasurer), Shahanara Shopna (joint secretary), Jesmin Khan Shopa, Sarah Anjum Bari, Muhammad Nizamuddin, and Anila as executive members.

The board of advisers is headed by its Chief Adviser Farida Hossain, and comprises Prof Niaz Zaman, Prof Kazi Altaf Hossain, Rummana Chowdhury, and Shawkat Mahmood.

The release said that the previous president, Kazi Anis Ahmed, who assumed the role in 2019, had completed two consecutive terms—the maximum allowed under the PEN constitution.

However, that committee remained inactive for over six months.
